Hello world!

Whether you’re just getting started or have years of experience, every player deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, build confidence, and enjoy the game.
Every program runs tryouts a little differently, but most coaches want to see how you move, compete, communicate, and respond to feedback.
Expect passing, dribbling, shooting, footwork, and defensive drills. Focus on doing the basics well.
Small-sided games or scrimmages let coaches see your decision-making, teamwork, and basketball IQ.
Hustle on defense, listen carefully, encourage others, and keep competing after mistakes.
Arrive early, bring water and basketball shoes, and check your program’s registration and physical requirements.
Every school and basketball program has its own participation requirements. Check with your school or league about registration, sports physicals, and important deadlines so you’re ready when the season begins.
Open gyms, pickup games, and basketball camps are great ways to build confidence, practice your skills, and have fun! Look for opportunities in your community to play with other girls, make new friends, and get comfortable on the court before tryouts.
You don’t need a gym or a team practice to start improving! Spend 15–20 minutes a day working on ball handling, footwork, shooting, or conditioning. Small, consistent efforts add up, and every little bit of practice helps you become a stronger, more confident player.

Nope. Every year girls try out having never played on a team, and coaches are looking at effort, attitude, and how quickly you pick things up as much as at what you can already do.
Court shoes with a clean sole, athletic clothes you can move in, a full water bottle. Hair tied back, no jewelry and a good attitude ready to play!
Warm up and conditioning, then skill stations for ball handling, shooting, and defense, then small-sided games so coaches can see you play rather than just drill. Plan on an hour and a half.
Email the coaches before tryouts rather than after. Conflicts with another school activity, an illness, or a family commitment can usually be worked around if we know ahead of time.
Tryouts are free! If you make the middle school or upper school team, there is a $50 athletic fee that will be added to your account on Infinite Campus. If you have any issue with payment, don’t let it stop you from trying out. Come talk to the coaches about how ICI can help.
Tryout conditioning is the part girls wish they had prepared for. Run three times a week, mix in sprints, and you will not spend the first session gassed.
Pound dribbles, crossovers, and one weak-hand drill, every day, eyes up. Ten minutes daily beats an hour on Sunday and it is the fastest thing to improve before October.
Start a step from the rim and only move out after five makes in a row. Coaches would rather see clean form from ten feet than heaves from the arc.

Email a coach and ask whatever you want to ask. No questions is a stupid question. We all started somewhere!
